Improper posts will be removed
Oct 2nd, 2008 at 5:18pm

I have been deleting another spate of improper posts and I am sorry that some of you have had to see what these low-lifes have posted. The internet is not a perfect world, but we will continue to delete anything that is not proper for this forum.

Pictures of nudity in a hot springs storyline are not a problem, however flat out porn is never going to be tolerated.

Yes, it is unfortunate that someone would take the time to register just to drop in some spam knowing that it will likely be promptly removed.

Because of the totally open nature of this board, it does come under attack from time to time.

Last time the cry babies who where using this board for a personal chat room for posts having very little to do with adding or requesting information about hot springs even began to spam this board in an efort to get their audience to move to another board.

There is the "Free for All" section for general interest stuff not related to hot springs.  But I agree with you, the porn and ads should be removed.

Knowing all this, I suggest anyone who finds useful information here that wants to make sure it is not lost simply copy and paste for their own self keeping.  Over the past decade this board has been up, it has experienced probably a half dozen meltdowns.  So far it has always come back and the information eventually gets added back.

I noticed that information here frequently turns up at other sites.  Soak.net seems to have the most current and accurate information.  Although, given the openness and mostly anonymous nature of it, it is always a good practice to verify from another source before relying on its accuracy.

I am going to keep removing unrelated topics as soon as I can, so bear with me and skip the BS until I can remove it, please. Spam will not be tolerated.

The spammers are fools, indeed.

No spam has remained even a single day for nearly a year now.  A bit of a waste of time trying.

Thanks for the active moderation!

When I was moderating at NWHotsprings I was in the process of deleting and banning certain address and IPs. I was averaging 20 to 30 deletions evertime I got on, sure was time consuming. Each one had to be scrutinized in-case it was a good addresss, most where obvious.

Bulldozer, I do miss NWHOTSPRINGS.NET and appreciated your efforts. A continuous presence is needed to keep the spam removed.

What I did like about your board was that it was not filled with unrelated BS.

Anyone concerned with keeping a board active could better spend their time doing research, taking trips and posting it for all to enjoy, benefit, and make relevant comments.  Those that depend on maintaining online friendships can use PM or post in the Free for All rather than forcing the rest to wade through it all.  Sure, we all like to BS, chit-chat, and make new friends.  But many of us are no more interested in eavesdropping on someone elses online banter than listening in on cellphone conversations or leaning over to hear someone else's conversation unless we are in that kind of mood.  Most people who go to forums are there for the principal subject matter...to learn or to share.

To be honest, as annoying as the spam is, I much prefer coping with those kinds of posts that are immediately removed when discovered by the moderator rather than wading through 90% BS that really belongs in the Free For ALL section if anywhere here at all.  Fortunately, that traffic has moved elsewhere.

Thank you for your relevant and friendly contributions as well as your patience with coping with temporary spam posts (every bit as annoying as junk mail or "Press 1 to get lower interest on your credit card" calls).

At least the misplaced BS gets removed here.

Idasoaker, I enjoyed NWhotsprings alot it was the first website I found relating to hotsprings and became a mainstay as did Soak.net. Eventually I found more n more websites relating to hotsprings and thought I'd struck gold.

NWHotsprings wasn't "My" website thou. It belonged to Scott Janzen(Sp), he seems to have fallen off the earth. Since his move to warmer climes I fear he has found a new passion. I still see his name in association with a scuba diving/photography website. He hasn't replied to any e-mail addresses that I found for him. I was going to suggest that if he was dropping the NWHotspring website, he could transfer the accumulated information/data/pictures to another website.

As for the spam on this site, in comparison to what it was here and at NWHotspring, "What Spam"

thank you for keeping the board relatively clean of spam.

spam has become a fact of life unless you really restrict access and posts.  it is really no more annoying than the off-topic rants of years past.

again, thanks.  this board has significantly improved by focusing on real news and on-topic queries.
