Buckeye Hot Spring
38.237 N 119.326 W 140 degrees F
USGS map: Matterhorn Peak (15 min)
Located near Bridgeport, CA, along the eastern front of the Sierra. The spring issues from the ground some height above Buckeye Creek, flowing over a large rock before cascading into two user built soaking pools at creekside. The rock overhang creates a small cave-like area in the pool. Another small spring issues on the upstream side of the pools at creek level.
With great backcountry skiing nearby outside of Twin Lakes, Buckeye is really one of my favorites, even though it's very popular. Please be nice to this spring!
How to get there.
